Following on from the campaign which signalled a “new visual direction” in September 2023 – focusing on its iconic ‘Gazelle’, ‘Superstar’ and ‘Samba’ trainers, Adidas Originals has now launched a second iteration of its ‘1000 Stories’ campaign.

The spotlight is once again shone on the ‘Gazelle’ and ‘Samba’ silhouettes, but this time they are joined by the ‘Handball Spezial’ trainer.

First designed for different sports, from football to handball, since the footwear’s inception “each classic has continued to make an impact across places, cultures and movements”.

Shot and directed by Vincent Haycock, and starring Carlisle Aikens, a professional skateboarder and member of the Adidas Skate Team, the campaign visuals – including a short film and lifestyle shots – “champion this timeless energy”.

The film takes viewers through a street scene where various people are all dressed in selected Adidas Originals apparel, bearing the famous ‘Trefoil’ logo which was first introduced in 1972, as well as different versions of the three selected trainers, to a soundtrack of Primal Scream’s mega hit from 1990, ‘Loaded’.

The campaign strapline then appears on screen: ‘We Gave the World an Original. You Gave Us a Thousand Back’.

Alongside the campaign film and imagery, Adidas Originals is set to celebrate the spirit of its classic silhouettes – and “the people bringing new meaning to them today” – with a bespoke digital hub showcasing user generated content. Fans of the styles are invited to submit their looks by using #Samba #Gazelle and #Spezial.
