Set Phasers to Stun: Rising R&B singer and rapper Audrey Nuna translated the ethereal, interstellar energy in her new “Jokes on Me” music video, which dropped Friday, into virtual fashion-forward cover art featuring her collab with digital luxury-fashion platform Syky Collective.

The literal glow-up features Nuna, whose real name is Audrey Chu, luminescing in a fantasy look wearing a spiky metal outfit called “Symphony” under a cloak cut from waves of translucence called “Galactic.” The two pieces are from the virtual “Glamour as Armour” collection, a collaboration between the singer and Sunw designer Fanrui Sun, a Syky Collective member.

“Through the ‘Jokes on Me’ single launch, Audrey’s innovative approach to storytelling serves as an inspiration of what creative magic could emerge when digital fashion, art and music collide,” said Alice Delahunt, Syky’s founder and chief executive officer.

In real life, the Arista-Sony recording artist is known for striking looks, from schoolgirl or hip-hop-approved athleisure to impossibly long braids and even mini horns — though fashion watchers may remember her decked out in Chanel a few years ago for a special project with the maison. But the Sunw collaboration “is my first experience with digital fashion,” said the Korean-American New Jersey native, in a statement.

She let the music be her guide, telling Instagram fans that the work is “about what this song means [to] me.”

Syky describes the ensemble as “high-fashion armour” cast in “dreamy, coolly metallic pieces that fuse elements of futuristic spacesuits, medieval armor, and high-fashion couture.” It’s a bold statement, meant to reflect the confidence of Nuna’s work.

The public can buy the virtual fashion on Syky’s website, try it on using augmented reality and share the looks on social media. Syky’s higher-tier “Keystone holders” who purchase also get perks, like downloadable 3D files, access to a third special collectible (cast as a spiky flower, matching the theme), an exclusive virtual hangout with Nuna and Sunw, plus an invitation to an IRL Syky event in New York City with the singer on May 14.

In 2021, the emerging Gen-Z artist appeared in Chanel for a special project between the French fashion house and HommeGirls, a zine founded by Thakoon Panichgul, formerly of Harper’s Bazaar. Nuna was tapped for the issue, alongside Margaret Qualley, Lily-Rose Depp, Chloë Sevigny, Greta Lee and others.
