• Genshin Impact 4.7 leaks suggest three new playable characters, including long-awaited heroes, are being added.
  • HoYoverse may have learned to distribute content throughout the year, avoiding traditional annual drop-offs in player engagement.
  • The final patches before the release of Natlan could include major events and new characters, providing consistent game content.

A series of new Genshin Impact 4.7 leaks may be indicating that developer HoYoverse finally learned an important lesson regarding content distribution – at least, for now. Version 4.7 is still a while away, as the game is going through the final stages of Version 4.5 and gearing up for the release of Version 4.6. According to the biggest Genshin Impact 4.6 leaks, the upcoming patch is going to be a huge one, bringing forth one of the most anticipated playable characters, expanding the map with a new area, adding new story quests, and introducing two new boss fights.

The playable character, Arlecchino, has already been confirmed as the next new addition to the game, though other than her Pyro Vision, no other details were officially revealed. Through leaks, however, it was discovered that she will be a 5-star polearm user and that she specializes in a DPS role, dealing Pyro DMG to enemies and triggering various Elemental Reactions based on her team comp. This and other leaks should all be confirmed (or debunked) during the Genshin Impact 4.6 livestream. While attention is on the next patch, there are already some Version 4.7 leaks hinting at a promising update.

Genshin Impact 4.7 May Get Three New Characters At Once

Leaks Indicate Two Long-Awaited Heroes Finally Become Playable

According to information by Full Stop Chan, provided by the leaker known as HXG, and shared in a post tagged as “Questionable” on Reddit, Version 4.7 will receive a total of three new playable characters. As seen in the post, HXG mentions that Clorinde, Sigewinne, and Sethos are expected to become playable in the future patch. Clorinde and Sigewinne have already been introduced as NPCs in the story and have long been awaited as playable characters, as they had leaked prior to the release of Fontaine itself. Clorinde’s release in Genshin Impact 4.7 had already been leaked, as had Sigewinne’s.

Sethos has leaked, too, though nothing else is actually known about them other than rumors that they are a 4-star unit, whereas Clorinde and Sigewinne are speculated to be 5-star characters.

What is surprising about the leak is that three new characters arriving in a single patch near the end of Fontaine’s year of content does not seem normal. As the game approaches the later updates of its content year, it tends to gear down in order to get ready for the release of the next region.

This year, players should see the release of Natlan in Genshin Impact 5.0, expected to occur in late August. With three possible new characters lined up for Version 4.7, it seems like the game’s content is not gearing down in content too soon.

For reference, last year’s equivalent, Version 3.7, saw the release of a single character. Not only that, but the character, Kirara, is a 4-star unit – all banners in that patch were starred by rerun characters. In contrast, the leaks show that two new 5-star characters and one 4-star unit are arriving in Version 4.7, which is a drastic change from 2023.

“If three characters in a late-year patch are any indication, there may be more important content planned for the update, too.”

It seems like HoYoverse is slowly yet finally learning how to spread its new content across the entire year rather than overloading during the first patches following a region’s release and then slowing down in the late-year updates.

So far, the worst update players have had after Fontaine’s release has been Version 4.5 itself. The patch saw the release of a single character, Chiori, and brought forth virtually no enticing story missions, be they Archon Quests, Character Quests, or even World Quests.

The only advantage Version 4.5 has over, for instance, Version 3.7, is that instead of only adding a 4-star unit, its new playable character is a 5-star unit. Chiori in Genshin Impact is a divisive character, but arguably a lot better than Kirara. Her limited 5-star status also incentivizes more pulls invested in the gacha system.

Most of the content in Version 4.5 is composed of limited-time events, and patches like these tend to be the slowest and least appealing ones in the game. They are notably left for the last few updates before the release of a region, but that may change seeing the leaks about the new characters in Version 4.7.

If three characters in a late-year patch are any indication, there may be more important content planned for the update, too. Of course, this is mere speculation, as little else has leaked aside from the 5-star units and Sethos in Genshin Impact 4.7.

Final Genshin Impact Patch Before Natlan Could Have More Characters

It is still too early to determine whether or not Version 4.8 will follow the trend set by the leaked information about Version 4.7. Version 4.8 is expected to be the final update in the year before the release of Natlan and, considering past updates that lead up to the release of a new Nation, there will likely be a massive limited-time event that sets up some sort of connection with the following patch.

Version 3.8 featured the Secret Summer Paradise flagship event set in the limited Veluriyam Mirage map in Genshin Impact. While the event told its own story, it did reveal some important information about Fontaine and its inhabitants, further teasing the upcoming content. While the narrative aspect was arguably covered by the event, the problem with that patch was the lack of new characters.

Not a single new playable character was introduced during it, and all 4-star and 5-star units were reruns. Of course, HoYoverse was preparing for the release of Fontaine and its characters, but, ultimately, the lack of novelty gave Genshin Impact players very little reason to even use the gacha system.

Genshin Impact 4.7 Leaks: New Abyss Update May Change The Game Forever

A new leak about a new version of the Spiral Abyss in Genshin Impact 4.7 hints at a game-changing update – and it may push players to their limits.

If HoYoverse has truly learned its lesson regarding content distribution throughout the year and the three leaked characters for Version 4.7 are not a fluke, then players may not experience the annual drop in reasons to play the game.

Of course, the title does slow down after the main Archon Quests are all released, but the constant influx of minor story quests and new characters can keep players interested throughout the entire year. For now, leaks should be taken with caution, as they may be incorrect or subject to change. Hopefully, however, the new Genshin Impact 4.7 leaks are true.
