The demand for sustainable last-mile vehicles have grown rapidly especially in urban environment. Pedelecs are chosen to be the example of this project as they are cost effective, energy efficient, and promise an emission-free travel compared to other fuel-powered vehicles. MACH 03 is a concept pedelec trike for renting, it’s an ideal combination of human power and electric support for urban mobility.
Many people choose to ride bikes and e-bikes to help reduce the effects of carbon emissions, bikes are also far more practical in relation to traffic. But not so much in bad weather conditions such as snow and rain, this type of weather can prevent smooth riding.
MACH 03 Pedelec Trike by Bernardo Pereira has been designed to offer a solution for better experience when driving a pedelec vehicle even in poor conditions.
Initially, Pereira wants to address the problems when riding Pedelec during rainfall, he wanted to design a vehicle that would stay stable even in adverse conditions. Multiple mechanism on the market were studied, the steering system can be defined to meet general formality of the vehicle in line with human dimensions. The internal component dimensions and general rules for “last mile” vehicle were considered to make sure the final result won’t deviate from legal characterization.
In order to protect the rider from the rain, there’s a shield that flows from the main structure and still provides unobstructed view of its entire surroundings. Using transparent polycarbonate, it won’t affect the driver’s field of vision. to meet characterization of the vehicle, the sides are not protected. The choice to use three-wheel would strengthen this vehicle stability while offering driver greater balance. To control MACH 03 Pedelec Trike, there are two joysticks, one on each side for directional control the vehicle. Bafang H700 electric motor provides a maximum torque of 32nm with power output of 250w, and a weight of just 3.2kg. The battery has the capacity of 600Wh and lasts for about 5.5 hours.
