One month after announcing
a restructuring of its B2B operations
, Expedia Group is making changes to
its consumer functions.

Effective June 1, Expedia Brands president Jon Gieselman is
leaving the company. Gieselman spent three years leading the company’s consumer
business and marketing division.

Upon his departure, Expedia Group is creating two new C-suite
positions and making internal promotions to fill them: Jochen Koedijk will lead
marketing as chief marketing officer and Brad Bentley will oversee the consumer
business as chief operations officer. Both will report directly to Ariane
Gorin, who becomes CEO in May when current CEO Peter Kern steps down
.

“In our
journey of transformation, Jon has led a dramatic unification of our
go-to-market strategy for our brands, development of our best-in-class loyalty
program, and has built industry-leading creative capabilities,” said Peter
Kern, CEO of Expedia Group. “Jon is a visionary leader in consumer marketing
and is leaving our consumer brands in a great position for the future.”

Koedijk has been with Expedia Group for three
years, leading the organization’s marketing investments and implementing a
data-driven approach to marketing across the company’s consumer brands. Bentley
joined Expedia Group about 18 months ago and has led efforts to streamline the
company’s B2C business.

“With Brad and Jochen, we
have two excellent internal leaders to drive the future of our consumer
business,” Gorin said.

“They will build on our
strong marketing and tech foundations and will sharpen our focus on delivering
growth. I also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Jon for being an
incredible colleague and for his outstanding contributions and leadership in
setting us up for this exciting future.”

Gieselman joined Expedia Group first as a board member in late 2019 and
then becme president of Expedia Brands in 2021. In a statement, the company
calls him a “critical architect” of its cross-brand loyalty program, One Key.

In late February, Expedia Group announced the creation of two new
divisions to be led by company veterans: Alfonso Paredes as president of
Private Label Solutions and Greg Schulze as president of Travel Partners and
Media.
