Reincarnated as a Slime Season 3 Threatens War

The Third Season Adapts the Monster-Saint Confrontation Arc

Season 3 of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime adapts volume 7 of the light novels, which covers an arc known as the “Monster-Saint Confrontation arc.” After becoming a full-fledged Demon Lord in season 2, Rimuru returns to Tempest and throws a festival, intending to welcome those who are traveling from across the world to pay tribute to the newest Demon Lord. However, a messenger is killed, and a fake message is delivered in its place to the Holy Empire of Lubelius: a declaration of war, in Rimuru’s name.

That’s enough to draw out the captain of the Holy Empire’s knights, Hinata Sakaguchi, who happens to be a Japanese otherworlder just like Rimuru. Hinata was a friend of Shizu, the person responsible for giving Rimuru his human form, and as such Rimuru would really rather not fight her. It’ll be up to Rimuru to sort out this deception and find out who’s responsible, or else he may be forced to face down Hinata in battle once again, and who knows who’ll come out on top should that happen.

Season 3 of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime has been a long time coming, as season 2 finished up in late 2021. Of course, there hasn’t been a total lack of Slime content during that time period; a movie, Scarlet Bond, was released in late 2022 in Japan and early 2023 in the US, and is now easily streamable on Crunchyroll. Several OVAs, including a three-part series known as “Visions of Coleus,” were released in 2023, helping to tide fans over while they waited for the next season to be completed.

Season 3 promises some excellent action and drama as Rimuru’s monster federation continues to fight for its right to coexist, and Hinata is an interesting character who would certainly benefit from being explored further. Fans of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime fortunately won’t have to wait much longer to finally see this exciting arc animated.
