Started in March 2023, Kawasaki Motors have been designed and researched a hydrogen powered motorcycle as part as their vision of supporting carbon neutrality environment. Well, this July 2024, they just conducted first public demonstration of a hydrogen ICE (internal combustion engine) motorcycle at Suzuka Circuit, Mie Prefecture, Japan.
Kawasaki ICE Hydrogen Motorcycle features a hydrogen engine based on the 998 cm3 In-Line Four Supercharged Engine found in Kawasaki’s Ninja H2 motorcycle. Some modifications have made it possible for direct injection of hydrogen fuel into the cylinders.
The main chassis has been designed to accommodate hydrogen fuel canisters and a hydrogen fuel supply system on-board. Hydrogen ICE motorcycle from Kawasaki Motors runs on hydrogen combustion, producing rumble and pulsating sensation where riders can enjoy when twisting the throttle, yet it emits mainly water. This project is part of Kawasaki’s carbon neutral initiative with possibility of productions for riders in early 2030s.
