Do you know that in the making of musical instruments, Yamaha uses large amounts of wood?, unfortunately, it also includes material waste which can’t be used in the instruments. At Yamaha, they call these unused materials, but at the moment, the company is also promoting a way to utilize them as resources. In reality, there are many types of wood used for musical instruments which are not conventionally used for guitars, however, Yamaha tries to revisit and revitalize these materials to create a new value for guitars. Keep in mind that by doing this, Yamaha doesn’t compromise the quality of guitars, it aims to upcycle each material to create new value for the guitar.
It’s undeniable that there’s a relationship between a musical instrument and its material. it determines not only its sound but also its size, weight, appearances, and many other factors. Some of them are rare types of wood, which are often used for specific music instruments. By gaining deeper understanding through scientific analysis of instrument performance, it is hoped that we can create the same instruments that sound good enough no matter what material is used.
Yamaha Upcycling Guitar is a concept model for the effort of using any material to create a high-quality music instrument. It is possible for today’s technology to make good quality guitars from any materials, and hopefully in not so distant future, the degree of freedom can increase.
